H.L. I have not heard such kind of dark metal for ages! In the late 90s this style was quite popular with bands like Darkseed, Sundown, Aion, Diabolique, Beseech or Paradise Lost in their soft phase. Sure, on one side "The Everlasting" sounds old-fashioned, but on the other the songs are a welcome variation in my current playlist. And old-fashioned or not, songs like "Waiting for the Sign" or "Bred to be broken" are simply catchy, cool and they rock! Favorite track: Waiting For The Sign.

"Eight of Swords" is one of the most beautiful gothic metal albums this year. It features very catchy songs, a pleasant female voice and spreads enough heaviness not to be regarded as pop music. Basically, I can recommend all tracks to check the album out as there is not one filler track to find. Maybe "Eight of Swords" is not original, maybe it is not an album for the ages, but definitely for this year's autumn and winter season! H.L.
